Internal Grease Traps
Grease traps or grease interceptors are a receptacle located between the restaurant drain lines and the sanitary sewer lines that allows for the separation and collection of fats, oils and greases (FOG) from the used water, preventing such materials from entering the municipal sewer system. Grease traps slow down the flow of water coming from drains, allowing the water/ grease time to cool. This cooling causes the grease to coagulate and float to the top, while other, heavier solids, fall to the bottom of the trap. The remaining water is free to pass through on to the city sewer lines.Sanitrol service technicians are professionally trained to service and clean any size or type of grease trap located either inside or outside of your facility. The process starts with the complete removal of all grease, sediment and grease-laden water.

The following illustrations depicts a typical service visit for an internal grease trap.

Proper grease trap maintenance is very crucial in order to have an efficiently operating grease trap. Many problems can occur if the levels of collected FOG and solids are not monitored. Problems such as drain line blockages and back-ups, foul odors and even worse, too much FOG being deposited into the city sewer lines, which can lead to fines. The State of Connecticut New Waste Water Discharge Guideline recommends at a minimum service should be performed every three (3) months.

Sanitrol can service the most remote internal grease traps with our Portable Conde grease trap cleaning unit. This device can be transported inside buildings without disruption to your day-to-day business operations. The portable Conde system provides all the power of a larger tank system with a compact arrangement of components in a completely portable unit. The 60 gallon tank size is ideal for many small pumping applications including: grease trap service, boat holding tanks, machine sumps, and other liquid waste applications.

External Grease Traps Interceptors

External or Outside Grease Traps provides the same function as the smaller grease traps but tend to be the better choice. These units are designed to the restaurants waste water capacity requirements.

Automatic Grease Recovery Units (AGRU)

Sanitrol is an authorized service provider of the Thermaco Big Dipper systems. These new internal grease traps replace the old passive grease traps as part of Connecticut's New Waste Water Discharge Guidelines for Fats, Oils and Grease.

This equipment automatically separate and remove grease, fat, and oil from drain water flow. The device allows incidental food solids and other debris found in the entering water to be separated from the grease and pumped out of the solids retention area to the drain. The entire process is controlled automatically by a timer.
